Following our Annual Performance Management Programme, a training plan is produced which identifies training needs. Each employee has their own Personal Development Plan. Induction – every employee receives a local induction on their first day of employment, which covers general housekeeping rules and well as safety and welfare. Within their first six weeks with the company they are invited to a half-day Induction Seminar, which will cover the structure of the group, mission, vision and values, terms and conditions of employment, health and safety, quality management and training and development. Management Development Programme – this Programme is available to all employees who can opt to undergo the full programme which covers leadership, dealing with difficult situations, advanced communications and presentation skills, exceptional customer service, making the most of time and resources and performance management or select the training courses which suit their individual development needs. Training Courses – regular training sessions are held on team-building, IT Skills and health and safety as well as ‘Away Days’ where employees are actively involved in the strategy planning and direction of the company by providing solutions not problems. Professional Development – we encourage our employees to work towards membership of professional bodies and reimburse annual subscription fees to recognised professional bodies. Management Trainees following a structured training programme whilst gaining experience within a variety of disciplines, ie, Estimating, Planning, Surveying, Site, Design. At the same time, Management Trainees will continue their studies on a day-release basis to achieve a Higher National Certificate in Building or undertake a part-time degree course in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying. Trainee positions are also available within a single discipline, ie, Estimating, Site Management or Quantity Surveying. They will also follow a training programme and continue their studies on a day-release basis. Apprentices – each year we take a number of secondary school leavers – aged 16 to undertake an Apprenticeship. Currently apprenticeships are available within General Construction and Bricklaying. We work closely with the CITB and National Construction College to ensure that as well as gaining valuable site experience, each apprentice is working towards an NVQ within their chosen discipline. As with all trainee positions, each apprentice will have a training programme and will be assessed every 3 months by a Contracts Manager (their mentor) and also the CITB.
